Introduction

Nova Scotia is a province in eastern Canada, one of the three so-called Maritime Provinces. The capital and largest city is Halifax. Halifax is the largest and most important city in the region of Nova Scotia in Canada. Halifax is the oldest lighthouse in North America. The Lighthouse Sambro Island date from 1758 and was responsible for directing the ships to the city. Bay of Fundy is one of the most popular natural tourist destinations in the world. The bay is famous for the highest tides in the world. It is located on the east coast of Canada between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The tourism has become increasingly important over the second half of the twentieth century (Beck, 2011).

Geotourism promotes the idea of tourism that respects the interests of local people, cultural and natural heritage of the area. Geotourism is a concept developed, by the National Geographic Society, to develop tourism that sustains or enhances the geographical character of a place: its environment, its heritage, its beauty, culture and well-being of its residents. It is therefore, a concept of sustainable development but adapts to the middle of the tourist. Geotourism thus encompasses the protection of local characteristics of the destination and the benefits they can bring to both visitors and residents (Yellow Maps, 2010).
