Nursing as a Profession

Introduction

A good collaboration between physicians and nurses and other health professionals is an important determinant of quality of care, data from the literature that support this thesis are very poor. Yet in this era of major constraints on the costs of our business, it would be important to document this aspect. Indeed, interdisciplinary has a cost, not least in terms of time invested in establishing and maintaining this collaboration on a daily basis (Atkinson, 2006). The reduction of working time of doctors, the cost of professional nursing units and patient complexity are clearly obstacles to this collaboration. But there are also cultural barriers; particularly the deep-rooted conviction among physicians they work with nurses, while they still feel as little listened to, sometimes not even respected by the medical profession. Instead of merely boast of interdisciplinary in institutional documents, it would be necessary to better define what is meant by collaboration to develop and evaluate training strategies to this collaboration, for all trades involved. It would also conduct studies to assess the impact of these improvement strategies on meeting the actors, the quality of care and resource utilization (Donahue, 1996). According to the article physician and nurse sill face problem because these conflicts are rotted in human factors like feelings, personalities, communication, and attitude style. If nurses want to change these things then they have to make strategies and directly approach to the problem rather than only complaining about the problem (Gastmans, 1998). So in conclusion I would simply say that we are a team where everyone is essential to the welfare of our dear patients, and no profession deserves to be devalued.

A hospital can be a smart hospital on when it will include clinical mobility solution and technologies that allow people to interact wherever and whenever they need to be, solutions and applications that improve work flow, core communication (basic technology) and in this article a technology named as avaya has been mentioned which is considered as comprehensive approach for effective integrating communication technology today (Gehlert & Browne, 2006). it helps professional nursing professionals to be more productive. it is about finding ways to leverage core technologies to make effective and better hospitals.

Discussion

A large number of nurses employed nowadays in many hospitals are in the higher age bracket. Most of these nurses are waiting on a few years to retirement. When these nurses do retire, there will be a significant decline further to the number of nurses available (Hamric, 2005). Most of the youth nowadays do not take the option of taking professional nursing courses. Many are opting to take other courses nowadays which are believed to be educational programs that will help individuals become rich easily. These courses include degrees in business and business administration, computer courses, and other courses related to tourism (Kaplow, 2007). These wealthy courses are popular and very in-demand these days.
