Tectonic activity influence the bathymetry of the deep ocean basin by creating large features such as ridges, volcanoes and trenches at physical processes, finer scales and biological processes. It includes sedimentation, flowing currents and massive debris slides which influence the shape of the bottom of an ocean. For example, the rise of Pacific- Antarctic is due to the chain of volcanoes present under sea. The pacific and Atlantic oceans are bounded to the west and the east by the continents.
