Organisation Design and Development

Introduction

This paper intends to discuss the development of organisational structures and processes and its impact over the organisational culture. It is an established fact that organisational structure and processes are meant to be related with the culture of the organisations (Amos &Weathington, 2008 Pp. 615-631). It would not be an exaggeration to suggest that organisation culture is hugely impacted by the structures and processes organisations tend to follow. It is also important to accept that the organisation culture is meant to impact the views and behaviours of employees. There is a relationship between everything like the organisational structure process; culture of the organisation and the impact of culture over the views and behaviours of employees (Amos &Weathington, 2008 Pp. 615-631). All these things drive the performance of organisations. The purpose of this paper is to make the reader aware about the significance of organisational structure, process and culture over the performance of organisations.

Organisational Structures and Processes

Organisational structures and processes are assumed to be one of the most important pillars of the business environment mainly because it describes the overall working patterns of the organisations. Organisationa structure basically refers to the task allocation and the related supervision for the purpose of achieving the organisational goals and objective over a long term period (Morgan, 2006 Pp. 1-10). Organisational structure also provides a perspective to the organisations. The organisational culture and environment and the attitudes of employees and other stake holders largely depend over the organisational structures and processes. There are different manners in which organisations can be structured. Long term organisational goals and objectives become the basis of the structures of the organisations (Morgan, 2006 Pp. 1-10).

Organisational structure is meant to provide an overview in relation with the modes of operations and the underlying performance of the organisations. Allocation of responsibilities in relation with various functions and processes is assumed to be done in accordance with the organisational structures. Organisational structures and processes impact the behaviours of employees and the culture of the organisations thus impacting the performance of organisations in the long run. The basic objective of organisational structure is to provide the basis of the standard operating procedures and processes. Moreover, the organisational structures also provide a clear view of the decision making authorities to the employees (Carnall, 2007 Pp. 25-30).

The actions and performance of the organisations is based over the structures, processes, culture and working environment within the organisations. All these factors become the basis of performing exceptionally and achieving success. Organisational structures are meant to be established in such a manner that must enhance the operations of the organisations. If the organisational structures are not linked with the operations then the overall organisational performance will be impacted and likely to be decreased. If the organisational structures and processes are not established carefully than it may hinder the overall performance and achievements of the business organisations (Butler & Rose, 2011 ...
