Adolescence is a period when significant changes occur in the lifethe individual. At this stage the adolescent undergoes changes biopsychosocial importantin which conflicts of various natures emerge and challenge the transgression of normsestablished by the adult, the curiosity about the new thing and prohibited thepeer pressure to join the new behaviors and be accepted by your group (Zapolski, Cyders, & Smith, 2009).

These are some of the factors that can lead adolescents to risky situations andvulnerability, such as involvement with drugs and the offense that currentlyis part of everyday life for a significant proportion of adolescents in our country.Juvenile delinquency and drug use are social problems and public health,that has received special attention from professionals who work in thisarea and public agencies to better understand this reality and actionseffective in relation to the possibilities of prevention (Belenko, Dugosh, Lynch, Mericle, Pich, & Forman, 2009).

Illegal Drug Usage

There has been a massive rise in the cases of illegal drug use specially with reference to teenagers as the teenagers look to learn from their peers and thus get involved in such activities. Gil Kerlikowske, Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, defined the 9 percent increase in drug use as disappointing, while he said he was not surprised given the perceived deteriorating attitudes that cause damage and illegal drugs growing number of states approving the use of marijuana as medicine.
