Painting

Evaluation

For this art coursework project, I have chosen the theme of “Patterns and Ceramics”; from using this title I followed a number of different steps in enabling me to complete my final piece. My final piece was completed after finishing a lot of preparation work in my sketchbook.

For my final piece I combined two wood boards and together by drilling. The wood board in the back is textured with tissue paper, PVA glue and a mixture of color ink. The wood board in the front is shaped as a boarder with a whole in the middle. The boarder is painted with the floral patterns of the cup that I have been using throughout the project. The background with stuck with painted tracing paper with vase's patterns on it.

Cup

The cup like piece which I have used in the, looks like a simple cup, because the tones which were used in describing the characteristics of the cup is much like a simple cup, but it is not the colour which makes the structure of the piece to look like a simple cup. It is just the form, tones along with the contour used in the designing of the cup which makes it look like a cup. No matter, what the colour of the cup is these features would always make the piece look like a simple cup.

The object of the cup in the painting is present in a quite realistic manner, which can be judged just by viewing the shape of the cup, which has all the features of a real cup, and the only exception between the cup in the painting and the real cup is the size of the cup, as the cup in the painting is much more bigger in size. Along, with that the cup also has an ear, for holding the cup with the hands, the cup have a circular shape, and that circular shape is placed represents the depth of the cup. The cup is placed on a plain surface. The lower and upper circles of the cup are much more parallel as compared to the original cup.

The design tone of the cup is unique, if we look at the decorations of the cup in the painting. The design consists of intermingling, flowers, leaves and plant stems. The tone of the cup on the left side is much darker, than the right side, which is produced in a much more vertical pattern by using linear strokes. The use of the dark and light patterns makes the background of the painting clearly visible for the observer. On the right side of the cup there is a dark area, which represents the shadow of the cup.

The positioning of the cup in the painting, along with all the tonal values makes it much more visible, which makes the light falling on top of the cup form the left side of the painting, which produces a shadow on the right side of the ...
