Alfred Jarry precursor of Dadaism, Surrealism and the Absurd, was a newcomer to Paris from Montreal, the city that saw the birth of the September 8, 1873. He became a regular at the salons frequented by the symbolist poets. Pupil of Henri Bergson at the Sorbonne, the playwright was still young and highly cultivated man, whose poems and articles were already a regular contributor to the 'Revue Blanche', reaching the same to be the founder of 'imagination'. He got the applause of the famous Paris in 1896 with 'King Ubu' satirical comedy in which he mixed references to 'Macbeth' with the excesses of a tyrant monarch to cowardly nobles and commoners in the war.

Against all odds, the success 'King Ubu' got in Paris at the end of the Belle Époque is such that Jarry wrote a second part with the title of 'Ubu Bound' (1900). The artistic glories run to the pair of self-destruction to which the playwright seems doomed item and disablement. Alternating between fact and fiction in his drunken delirium, type 'absolute love' (1899), 'Messalina' (1901) and the curious novel The super macho, defined in its edition as a sample of the games that theory and practice of love rival may be delivered by having the machines, the speed, all the fantasies of the scientific breakthroughs of the early twentieth century. For criticism, so remarkable work became a peculiar example of grotesque futurism (Books 2010, 32).

The theater of the twentieth century began to envision their new possibilities of anticipating Beckett, on December 10, 1896, with the premiere of King Ubu. It not only renewed Jarry dramatic writing, but also the concepts of staging, through the costumes, makeup, and talented the attitude of the actor. Alfred Jarry, whom André Breton said years later that obliterate as a principle the difference between art and life, bicycling and fishing. He was skilled in the use of the sword and two guns as almost always downloaded with that shot symbolically against any artist or impostor pseudo-intellectual who crossed his path. The College of Pataphysique

Alfred Jarry invented Pataphysics, science of imaginary solutions that symbolically gives delineations of bodies' properties of the objects described by their virtuality in their book Gestures and Opinions of Dr. Faustroll, pataphysician. From this work, the College of Pataphysics foundation is defined as a “learned society devoted to the study useless of imaginary solutions”. Jarry's Pataphysics survived, creating the May 11, 1948, as ironic counterpoint to the prestigious College of France, College of Pataphysique.
