The purpose of this dissertation is to evaluate the performance of Supply Chain Models in business practice - key to supporting Corporate Strategy.

Aims and Objectives

The aim of the report is to review the different classification of supply chain models within different organization and different industry to obtain an optimal integration of supply chain model across the corporate strategy.

The objectives to achieve the aim are:

Define the broad definition and the classification of supply chain management within the literature debate.

Define the importance and requirements of a supply chain model to an organisation.

To define an appropriate measure of business strategy

To identify supply chain model with reflection of business strategy and practices

To review the common supply chain model used in another company within the same industry.

To compare and analyse the supply chain model between Federal Mogul and Toyota.

To investigate and construct an appropriate approach of supply chain model for both companies.

To examine and discuss how the supply chain models of both companies within the same industry may fit in to its business strategy

To examine and discuss how the supply chain models from a different industry perspective may fit in to its business strategy.

To determine the integration of both supply chain models within the organisation's strategy and the potential development of supply chain model in parallel with the business strategy.

Hypothesis

A classification of supply chain models aligned with corporate strategy can be an essential help for businesses in the selection of a performing supply chain to gain competitive advantage

Chapter 2: Literature Review

Theoretical Framework

To define the importance of the Supply Chain Process in a Strategical Company, you must first understand which areas of competence and relevance of this function, thus going to define for each these elements as they should have a consistency with Vision and Objectives defined by the Corporate Strategy. Additional examples are intended to highlight the importance of combining decision-making processes of corporate strategy with the choice of process Supply Chain.

Consistency between Corporate Strategy and Supply Chain

The purpose of this dissertation will to clarify the concept of coherence between strategy and pro-SCM processes. The goal is to understand the coherence between strategy and SCM process as well as communicate the importance of a proper process of SCM business objectives preset.

The objective of SCM is to create a configuration process that ensures that the lowest possible cost of the product, providing customer service adequate to market (not a leader of service but not least of competitors). This means working in such a way as to minimize the costs of buying, production, stock pile, transport, information services to the customer (product availability, track the customer order, and after sales service rendered, etc. ), not neglecting the adaptation IT solutions to reduce operating costs .
