Introduction

This assignment will provide insight information about self-managed learning, and how it can improve long lasting development through assessing the self-managed learning, approaches in which lifetime learning in professional and personal contexts might be encouraged, along with the advantages of self-managed learning to the organisation and individual. This report also offers comprehensive insight about current KSA (knowledge, skills and abilities) against professional and organisational objectives. To identify developmental needs and what initiatives are required to attain them. Opportunities of personal development help in meeting future and current needs.

Self-managed Learning

Self-managed learning can be defined as a way in which individual and group of individuals uncover different means in learning things, which might be at the work that is diverse or in the society where they reside. In self-managed learning, individual sets his/her own objectives for the learning through the aim for learning and means to attain these objectives. Individuals learn new things, such as individuals' culture, perceptions, personality, behaviour and others. People may learn things not just in the classroom settings but also through reading books and newspapers and friends, as well. Self-managed learning offers individuals an opportunity to devise and draft their own learning strategy. Although at times, people focus and espouse on short-term approach to learning, just to complete a project or pass an examination. However, it is essential for people to develop skills and acquire knowledge for long-term; since, today's business world is rapidly changing due to the technological development for which individuals need skills and knowledge, which they might use them in their professional and personal life. Below are some approaches of self-managed learning (Werner & DeSimone, 2011, pp.22-110).

People might learn by means of research, they will learn either in the college, university or organisation, individuals might learn by using different learning tools, and in doing the study they also collect data and information regarding UK business case studies and real-life organisational examples in the United Kingdom, individual might learn what is going on in business world.



Seminars and Conferences

Individuals might learn by conferences and seminars, where people came from diverse fields and have years of experience and can learn from them in order to develop. Conferences and seminars offer individuals the chance to present their knowledge regarding current and prevailing knowledge and skills that a workforce must have to meet the current and future demands of an organisation, and also offer an opportunity of learning new things (Tasca, Ensslin & Alves, 2010, pp.631-655). Conferences and seminars assist individuals in becoming confidence speaker in front of public, as well as improve presentation skills that are required in the business firm.
