Introduction

As the societies move towards advancement and development, the social issues and problems continue to increase, combined with the increase in need to resolve these issues. In order to make sure that these minor issues do not amplify into serious concerns and thus do not cause serious issues for the members of the society, a number of steps are taken, those addresses the specific issues and concerns and at the same time, provide suitable solutions to the same. The following paragraphs highlight one of the most essential issues of faced by the community and also focuses on the steps adopted to resolve the issue:

Social problem addressed by site

Out of all the various social institutions, the educational institutions are granted special importance as it is not only related to the future of individuals but at the same time, it also seeks to decide and settle on the future of nations. This implies that if the educational issues and concerns are properly addressed and the concerned authorities ensure proper and thorough running of the educational institutions, majority of the issues related to other social institutions would be solved, as educated and qualified individuals promise a better future of the nation.

Keeping in view the above mentioned theory, I have decided to assist school children in completing their assignments and other school related work, by volunteering in CORAL afterschool program. It is eminent to mention here that most of the school children are facing educational issues these days, as the teachers and instructors are not able to focus on each and every child during the class, and thus the students end up having issues with the homework as well as understanding the class work. In addition, researches have shown that most of the children have either working parents or single parents, who are not able to spend much time with them and thus cannot listen to their narrations and stories. According to psychological studies, it is essential listen to the stores and narrations of children as it does not only assist them in clarifying he concepts but at the same time, it also ensures that they are comfortable with the studies and the various subjects (Halpern, 2003).

Thus, the Bridges Academic middle school in CORAL program would not only allow me to assist children in learning and making academic improvement, which is one of the most essential social issues prevailing in the educational environment these days and needs to be resolved with utmost significance.

Involvement at the site and evaluation of motivation to serve

As mentioned earlier, I would be assisting children in completing their homework and improving their language skills, that is not possible to teach during school hours. It should be noted that a number of students in the American schools belong to various backgrounds and a number of them do not speak English as their first language.
