Photosynthesis

Introduction

Photosynthesis is a process through which plants get their energy to be used for their daily functionalities. It is a process in which the light energy is transformed into the chemical energy in order to provide energy to the plant. The conversion of light energy obtained through sun light into the chemical energy involves a chemical reaction which is the fundamental aspect of photosynthesis. The word photo synthesis is a Latin word which literally means photo = light and synthesis = reaction. Thus, the photosynthesis process is the method that involves the reaction of light. Basically, the process of photosynthesis occurs in that plant that contains chloroplast in their cells. The process of photosynthesis is started due to the chloroplast that gives green color to the plant. In this way, the process of photosynthesis occurs in those plants that have green leaves or stem.

The stomata present on the leaves of the plant are primarily responsible for providing entrance to the sun light into the cell of a plant. The process of photosynthesis provides a primary source of energy to the plants by enabling sun light to enter into the plant where it drives the organic compounds form it to gain energy. The green plants, algae and other bacteria make their own food through the process of photosynthesis. It is a physio chemical process that involves several sub chemical reaction that are necessary for the plants to get energy and function accordingly (Mae & Makino, 1999). This paper discusses the process of photosynthesis and its effect on the life of the plant. The process of photosynthesis is a complex chemical process that involves several other elements along with sun light that helps in the process.
