Pirated Movies

Introduction

Piracy is truly one of the lowliest acts and extremely unprofessional. Unfortunately, it can be seen in numerous instances throughout the modern world. If copying an individual's original concepts was not enough, many have turned it into a thriving form of business. The industry loses dollars that number in the billions every year because somebody copies and sells their product at rates that are much lower than market value, commonly referred to as bootlegged merchandise. Additionally, the World Wide Web has become a hub for movie pirates, easily able to download content as they desire.

Thesis

“The entertainment industry loses an approximate billion dollars thanks to piracy in all its forms. Apparently, whatever is being done against the perpetrators is not even close to enough. Creativity is being enjoyed without any credit what so ever to the creator.”

Discussion

There are numerous individuals that believe that information, in all its forms, whether audio or visual, should be for all to access as per their will. Many believe this little belief to be their God given right. In an attempt to be as unbiased as possible, one may see the logic in the statement above. However, such should only be held true for information that is for purposes other than entertainment. If one is rightly withheld from knowledge, they have the right to pursue criminal action against the individual that refuses to grant them access to the said information. This is also the very reason why the constitution grants every individual the right to an education (Panethiere, 2005, 12-22 ). With that being said, one must understand that the material passed on to individuals through the form of an education is not the creativity of one individual.
