Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to conduct an interview of a nursing facility on the different issues relating to long-term care. The nursing facility which has been discussed in this paper to be interviewed is the post acute care unit. Post acute care unit is mainly responsible for the post acute care patients who belong to different units. The main purpose of post acute care unit is to provide post acute help and guidance for the purpose of helping them to discharge. It is an important care unit mainly related with the patients who have taken their treatment.

Objective

The interview has been conducted from the director of post acute care unit on the different issues relating to long-term care. The main objectives of this interview are to define the current long-term care system, the ways through which it has developed, and the key strengths and weaknesses of the system. Another objective of this interview is to take complete knowledge and information of continuum of care. It also has the objective of identifying the consumers and providers of long-term care. The interview also has the objective of defining institutional and non-institutional care, and the strengths and shortcomings of each approach. The interview also contains questioning regarding the changes taking place in long-term care today.

Scheduling of the Interview

In order to conduct interview from director of post acute care unit on different issues relating to long-term care an interview has been scheduled. In order to schedule the interview, appointment has been taken from the director. I have made several calls to the secretary of director and ultimately he gave me appointment for 23rd September 2012. The interview will be conducted at the office of director of post acute care unit.

What do you think is the Long-term care System?

Director: I believe that long term care is the care including various services which have been specified for the purpose of improving a person's health and different personal care needs within a specified period of time whether it is short of long. The long-term care is helpful for different people for the purpose of providing help to patients in living independently and safely when they are not able to perform their everyday activities (Citizens for Long Term Care and Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute 2003).

How do you provide Long-term Care in Post acute care unit?

Director: In the post acute care unit, long term care is provided through different patterns by different caregivers. It is totally dependent on the needs of patients. In most cases the long term care is provided at home when the patient gets discharged from hospital. The long-term care is provided to patients in the form of post acute care unit. Normally, different nurses and caregivers are used for providing long-term care in post acute care unit.
