The meaning of word Canon is a reed i.e. a measuring stick, or a straight bar or rod; something serving to rule, determine or measure. In the Catholic Church, the priests can be classified as religious or diocesan.

Both of these kinds of the priests have the same faculties of the priesthood and are obtained through the ordination by the bishop. The Canon 1024 states that “Only a baptized man can validly receive sacred ordination”. There are several reasons to this statement and the main reason is that the Jesus did not appoint the women for the followers, missionaries and priests.

Holy Order: A Special Priesthood

In the Catholic Church, the Holy Order is the sacrament and atonement thought which the male gender are ordained or proclaimed as priests, bishops, and deacons. The Holy Order preserves the continuity and permanence of the apostles, followers and missionaries. In this process, each of the ordained or proclaimed individual is ordained or fated by a descendant of the apostle (original) of the Jesus Christ.

The Church has no Authority to Ordain Women

The church has to approach many factors and phases about the question of the ordination of the women. As approached in other significant decisions, the church approach in this matter to the Bible, prayer, the wisdom of the theologians and the Tradition of the Church.
