Principles of Assessment in Long Life Learning

Introduction

Assessment is a method of judging an individual's learning. It associates developing and assembling of a learner's achievement and comprehension of knowledge and talent and determining proof contrary to assigned benchmarks. The assessment of lifelong learning has collected heightened attention lately from business and educational associations. Scientists and professors, looking into the needs of the 21st century, have come to a widespread acceptance about the significance of continuous development. There is also a universal understanding of the significance and the need for a different approach to facilitate endless learning in common or distinct scientific fields. It is under observation that the objective must be to create learning methods and testing systems that will encourage people to want to learn. Students need to learn and accomplish on their individual endeavors so that they feel determined and accept that they

can make progression (J.Matthew.et.all,2007)

Discussion Types of assessment There are three types of assessments 1. Formative assessments

Formative assessments are considered being a part of learning, and they are not graded. Instead, they are used as a practice for students, similar to how a student goes about completing a homework assignment. They check the students understanding on a subject. They also give feedback to the students so that they can improve their performance where needed. The key purpose of formative assessments is to identify the problems and address them immediately. (Dodge, 2013)

2. Summative assessment

Summative assessments typically take place at the end of a large chunk of learning, and the results are graded for the benefit of teachers or educational institutions. The results may take time to be delivered to the student, and a limited amount of feedback is given. The parents or students themselves can see and assess their performance. (Monroe County, 2013).3. Interim assessment

Interim assessment takes place all through an extended period. Usually the feedback is promptly given to the students. This assessment typically uses different tools such as written assignments, projects and tests. This type can assist teachers to analyze the short-comings in the student's conception and training, and they consider the problems before moving on to other instructions and activities (Monroe County, 2013).

Methods of assessment

There are many methods of assessment policies which are carried out throughout the world of education. An individual is observed according to their learning abilities. Assessment can take place in a mixture of environments such as classrooms, examination halls, lecture rooms or workplaces. It does not matter where or how the assessments are conducted, it always involves three major things i.e. observation, product evaluation and questioning or a combination of some or all three. There are three methods of assessing individuals in the form of assessments (Monroe County, 2013).
