Abstract

Problem solving courts have become an important part of the criminal justice system. For this research, I need to spume the role of a law clerk for judge in a mid-level city having population of up to 100,000-500,000. Your boss wishes to start a problem-solving court in her district. My research would include an introduction to the criminal justice system and to the drug courts. The main goal of a criminal justice system is to impart justice to everybody, by means of condemning and penalizing the guilty ones and also by facilitating them to quit affronting, and at the same time safeguarding the innocent ones. The criminal justice system holds the responsibility of perceiving crime and arranging for justice; further performing the court orders like the collection of charges, and supervision of community and detention. Drug court is a distinctive type of a problem solving court which is responsible of dealing with cases related to the drug offenders by means of all-embracing monitoring, drug testing, rehab services and instantaneous remedies and inducements. Drug courts provide an opportunity to get into a program for the recovery of substance abuse, to the persons who face criminal accusations for the possession and use of drugs. The context of the report would begin with the brief history and background of the drug courts; the foundation of the earliest drug courts and the structure the followed to extend out to stand at a notable and regarded position in the sense of benefitting the society. Moving on, I would highlight the main purpose and goals of a drug court and how systematically the court would function in order to accomplish the targeted goals and ultimately benefit the society as a whole. Further through my research I would inform the judge of the drug court regarding the initial cost for starting the drug court and then would move on recommending him regarding the different areas from where we could acquire the funds needed to commence the drug court project. The discussion would conclude with my final recommendation to the judge to start up a drug, providing explicit and vivid justification with the support of facts and specifics regarding the drug courts. I would also explain to him how the commencement of a drug court which is a problem solving court, would make sense to the society by benefitting them and eradicating crime and drug offense from the society by the provision of positive, economical and instantaneous therapeutic interventions along with appropriate penalties to the drug offenders.Table of Contents
