Background of the PSA

The Public Service Announcement Advertisement involves the awareness campaign that is intended to educate the college students regarding the issue of racism and the negative consequences hold by racism in educational institutions and society. It has been observed that a number of students belonging to specific class or skin color are discriminated in the educational institutions and the society. More specifically the African American children and adolescents are disseminated along with the Hispanics and Latinos. Latinos were discriminated by the early 21st century. There were an increasing number of cases that were reported against the misconduct cases by the police to Latinos. The hate crimes increase, racism and xenophobia also emerged as the serious concerns for the Latinos living in the society. The Hispanics or Latinos were confronted by the issues such as incidences and cases by the law enforcement agencies, harassing, racial profiling and brutalization of Latinos and Hispanics. There are strong racial biases in the criminal justice system regarding the treatment of Latinos or Hispanics living in the society and the members of other groups (Poe-Yamagata & Jones, 2000). They Latinos or Hispanics living in the society are more likely to be arrested or apprehended, prosecuted, imprisoned, tried and even sentenced for a longer period of time than other members of groups living in the society (Poe-Yamagata & Jones, 2000).

This issue has been observed by not only the common men but the society as a whole. The justice department of the country also conforms to the fact that Latinos or Hispanics living in the society are incarcerated more than the majority groups as well as some other minorities groups (Hess & Drowns, 2009).Many people believe that race and culture are the foundations of criminal behavior and actions in a person. This is the reason that most black or African Americans are considered as criminals and are alleged for severe punishments and detentions in the court system. The assumptions that people from different races and ethnicity behave differently from each other is a prevailing issue in the society. It has been found that blacks have different ethnicity similar to that of whites in society. It raises the issue that there is no particular black culture in the country and all the blacks belong to a different culture and ethnicity (Free, 2003).

Goals and objectives

The goal of this Public Service Announcement Advertisement is to create awareness among the college students regarding the negative consequences of racial discrimination and ethnical discrimination prevalent in the society and in the educational institutions. The specific objectives of the Public Service Announcement Advertisement are provided as follows.

To create awareness among the college students regarding the negative consequences of racial and ethnic discrimination

To aware them regarding the human rights, rules of humanity and respect of each and every individual of the society

To clear the misconceptions hold by the college students regarding specific discriminated classes, races and ethnicities
