In recent times television has now moved rapidly from four major stations to hundreds and it is more likely to move digital environment. In majority countries, existing broadcasting models with co-existence of state and commercial as well as channels of public service. Major aim of this is this paper is too distinct the public service broadcasting and potential problems it faces. In addition, it is also address the questions about the role of public service broadcasting in the information system society and how it should adjust with the internet age.

Background

The beginning of the Public Service Broadcasting can be traces far back from 1920 when post office set up the British broadcasting company. The decision was to make the services was to be finance through a licence fee that was to be paid by the public cooperation's and depend on the rejection of market forces. Major crisis of Public Service Broadcasting start from 1936 after the introduction of television and it extend to the influence of BBC from radio broadcasting and this new medium BBC successfully able to maintain the monopoly over the British Broadcasting.

In addition, Public Service broadcasting goal not just only the different form but it is also a complementary to, the private sector activities seems to be driven by just single ambition and targeting to cover largest population through most attractive content with having no perspective of public interest .
