Abstract

The paper discusses about the Quality Assurance practices in Italy and how they are different from the United States. Italy is a place where they are living in a time of economic changes and developing manufacturing philosophies with at the same time of quality culture. Total quality management is based towards a managerial philosophy which has received must attention in the world of business from the past several years. The Italian Certification System was developed to meet these needs and supports the most extensive system adopted by the European Union, trying to integrate the latter. The certification of compliance with technical standards and specifications is a valuable tool for the promotion of products on the market; it is also a guarantee of reliability of the goods and is thus presented as a primary instrument of consumer protection. In modern conditions, the quality of the parameter of the existing business processes is one of the most important competitive advantage, and therefore, the criterion for continuous improvement of business processes in United States.

Introduction

The quality of a product or service is represented by features that allow it to meet the expectations of those who use it. It cannot therefore identify a level "absolute" quality: are the needs of users from time to time to define the characteristics of the product or service must possess in order to satisfy them (Samaha, pp. 144-149).

As a theory of management, Total Quality Management is in competition with cost management.
