Recovery Meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous

Introduction

Every society has a lot of problems. Recovery meetings are very important for the improvement of the society. In my community, there are many problems especially alcoholic addiction. In order to remove this serious problem, my community occasionally arranges Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings.

An AA meeting was arranged as an open meeting in my community. Every person including children was allowed to attend that meeting so that everyone could get complete knowledge about the alcoholic addiction and also get aware of the solutions to this addiction.

I also attended this enlightened meeting and found it very helpful for me and also for my community. This meeting was held on March 15th, 2013 in Los Angeles. The chairperson of the meeting was the head of Authentic Recovery Centre. Each and every person of my community attended this meeting and gave a positive response to avoid this addiction. Some of my friends have been addicted to alcohol, and they are taking treatment in Authentic Recovery Centre. Their health is getting better day by day, and they are recovering more quickly after gaining knowledge about this dreadful addiction in this meeting.

Discussion

About all the treatments programs of alcoholism also take in meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), which can be described as a global community of women and men helping each other to keep on sober. Although AA is commonly predictable like effectual self-help to recover alcoholics, still not every person reacts in a positive way to the message or style of AA. Also other solutions may be present. Those who are getting medical treatment and counseling in this regard along with AA, generally find that they recover more quickly (www.aa.org).

AA does not cost anything, either for the individual or the society. AA has no membership fees, and it does not accept financial contributions. AA is self-supporting through our individual contributions. Members who attend the meetings put a coin in the hat if they can. This money goes to the group's expenses, and surpluses sent the money on to the circuit / region, and to our Service Center to be used to carry the message (www.aa.org).

AA's program is spiritual in that sense, but it has nothing to do with any religion (creed). AA calls the members to seek a belief in a Power greater than himself, but AA has no idea of how that power looks like. It is every AA member's an intimate affair. For many newcomers, the functioning of AA group is at the beginning of a higher power of anonymity and alcoholism (www.aa.org).

Anonymity

We know that alcoholics refuse assistance if their identity could be revealed. There are too many newcomers for whom it is an emotional and embarrassing step, to admit that they can no longer do their drinking (www.aa.org).
