Reflection Essay

Like every other student I also wondered regarding life and studies at the university level before coming here, but I never had an idea about unique opportunities this university offers. Undoubtedly, an important transition from high school to the first semester of university brings drastic change in our routine and experiences. However, I always believed in dreaming high and attaining achievements in the field that I admire most. Since the beginning, I like to observe people and learn through their vast experiences. Passion of exploring diverse people and knowing about them helps me develop a keen interest in studies of social science. It has been my major concern to get admission in the university and particularly study this module of social science studies.

The word social means people interacting with each other and science is an empirical study; thus, different modules of social sciences allow us to learn and understand the interaction people made with each other at the local, national or global level. Today, we have entered in an era of globalization, where communication is very fast, and it has consolidated people's interaction than ever before. Concepts of social science are extremely important, and they assist us to develop and raise the standard of people, infrastructure and lives around us (Harrison & Dye 2008, p. 8).

Before starting this module, I did not expect anything particular from the university, subject or instructor, but the only thing I had in my mind was that to understand about society and social interaction. However, I was completely aware of the fact that this module of social science will develop various skills including critical evaluation, logical thinking, team work, communication and other self organizing skills in me (Slamang, 2005, p.7). Although, I did not expect to learn such skills, but this module provided me with sufficient knowledge regarding abilities that are highly valued by the employers today.

I started taking classes and notes for this module and gradually I realized that this course of social science will be of considerable help and assist me in learning a lot about values of human interaction, key political processes and role of those institutions that play their part to bring about positive changes in societies. After attending first five classes of this module, I realized that no module of social science would be better than this one for sharpen up the desired abilities and skills needed in all professional, social and political grounds (Heese, 2006,p.14)

With the topics and discussions I came across through this module during my first term I learned the way in, which societies and people living in different societies interact with each other and play the role to cater social interaction needs. Undoubtedly, this module is very interesting as it engages me mainly because it involves discussions, perceptions and practices a person can easily observe within his/her own friends, family or other social circle.
