Introduction

The aim of the study is to reflect the American culture by reviewing the two mythic western movies, Blackboard Jungle and Rebel without a cause. The study focuses on the concept of rationalism and glossing by portraying the above mentioned movies as an example. Further the concept of ideological hegemony is to be discussed is the paper. The purposed study attempts to extricate the cultural analysis of the United States of America in the context of the myth regarding the movies.

Synopsis of Blackboard Jungle (1995)

Blackboard jungle was released in 1955. The director of the movie was Richard Brooks and the idea of the movie was picked up from the novel of Evan Hunter with the same name of blackboard jungle. It is basically an abrasive urban drama. The story is about a middle aged man, War Veteran Rick Dadier (Glen Ford), who was looking for a job to cater himself and his pregnant wife Anne. Here unwillingly starts his career as a high school teacher in New York Inner city. He hears rumors pertaining to the school discipline and within few days he explores that the school is committing sort of reprehensible activities. The school management has somehow accepted the overrun by culpable students. Dadier is zealous to bring the discipline back to his class but he has to face extreme malevolence by the rowdy students of the school specifically by the student leader Artie West and by Gregory Miller. Dadier has a perception about Miller, a black student, he follows racial annoyance.

As a clue of threats, his wife receives anonymous letter related to the plotted affair of Dadier with a woman at school. In reply Daider accuses Miler and he merely makes confrontation. Circumstances make it crucial for Dadier to decide whether to leave this job or to stay at the obstreperous school. In the case he decides to continue his assignment, he either has to face severe hostility or he has to accept the overrun by the student. Dadier has to unveil the root cause behind all the reprehensible activities.

Synopsis of Rebel without a Cause.

The movie rebel without a cause extricates the adolescent delinquency that meticulously follows classic theatrical norms. The movie embraces the frustration of the teenagers for having spoiled families. All of the teenagers have family issues pertaining to the relationship of their parents or their ignorance for children. The movie narrates the idea that kids could go wrong if there is the absence of parental attention. Jim Stark (James Dean) with his low and high moods is a high school going teenager with conflicting presence conscious mother and powerless impotent father.
