Introduction

This paper is based on a movie titled “A Soldier's Story” directed by Norman Jewison and also on a play titled “A Raisin in the Sun” by Lorraine Hansberry. The movie was related to the army and in this movie a black officer of army is sent for the investigation of the killing of black sergeant at the time of ending of the World War II. The story is regarding segregation and racism in black United States Army division among the white officers. Similarly, the act also reflects the same age of American-African culture, based on the experience of a black family in the United States. Both of the stories best defines the African-American culture and also the facts and issues of that time.

Discussion

The American-African culture is represented in the movie. The movie was based on the fact of army as at that time black men enthusiastically sent to the Europe in order to fight the World War II. An important character of the movie is the Captain Davenport who was brought here from Washington in order to examine the astonishing assassination of the Sergeant Waters. For the same Captain Davenport dully interviews every gentleman who was working under the command of Waters. All gentlemen gives his description and regarding how their great or not great comes across by the late Waters. This movie continually flashes back with forth between the history as well as the current as the gentlemen enlighten their narratives to Davenport (Bradley, 1951, pp.10-84).
