RESEARCH PROPOSAL

The Use of Non-Invasive Ventilation of Patients with Acute Respiratory Difficulties in

Irish Emergency Department Hospitals in Ireland

Abstract

This study provides the detailed analysis of the concern regarding the use of Non Initiative Ventilator for the patients with acute respiratory disorder. It is also considered important that the NIV for providing the oxygen to these patients will help them recover soon. Another aspect is that it will prevent these patients from the danger of Acute Respiratory Failure (ARF).This proposal mainly concerns for the arrangement of its treatment in hospitals in Ireland. It provides the need for the management of non invasive ventilation in the hospitals for the acute conditions. It is very commonly use for the chronic cases like COPD, but in acute conditions in which the problem lasts in minutes, there is no proper arrangement. In most of the hospitals in Ireland there is no proper management in case of acute emergencies. This proposal also provides detailed review of the literature available for it. This proposal also provides the detailed information about the research methodology, aims and objectives, data analysis method, research strategy, research design and research outcome. Apart from this, the proposal also highlights the issues associated with the research in detail. It discusses the limitations, ethical issues and methodological issues associated with every aspect of the research.

The Use of Non-Invasive Ventilation of Patients with Acute Respiratory Difficulties in

Irish Emergency Department Hospitals in Ireland

Introduction

Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) is the method to provide ventilation support in respiratory difficulties without use of endotracheal or tracheostomy tube. Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) is the most common way for the administration of ventilation in case of both acute and chronic respiratory difficulties. The history of using different methods and instruments for providing the ventilation support for these types of cases proves that NIV is the most effective method. It is also very helpful in emergency situations and especially in case of respiratory failure. This highlights the need for the proper arrangement of Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) in the hospitals and requires whole infrastructure to meet the requirements. This is also very common problem for the hospitals in Ireland for the maintenance of NIV. Irish Health Services Accreditation Board (2004) discusses the need for the arrangement of proper system in Irish hospitals which need to consider the severity of the problems in acute respiratory difficulties and this requires attention towards this concern. The most common concern is COPD Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. It is provided with the detailed analysis of the operating ...
