Task 1.1

Introduction

The main aim of writing this paper is to help and understand the complexities of the management of a tour operator's resort operations, considering the range of types of tour operators and understanding how resort operation is organised to meet the needs of a variety of Holliday programmes in a wide variety of locations. In this given task, I will mention the quality and procedures in relation to services, health and safety and legal environment, as well as a range of incidents and their effect on resort office. I will also discuss the Crisis Management procedures (Lumsdon, 1999).

Quality

The quality has been considered as the most important element for a service based organization. A commonly used definition of quality is “Delighting the customers by fully meeting their needs and expectations”. Now the idea of quality in the tourism sector is warily to get the goal. Like all other organization, tourism also lies in the service base industry which means that they have to keep their quality of a high standard. The aspects of quality in tourism varies from the standard of health and safety, usual audits and check, reporting of and trade with irregularities as well as records, helpful phone call to reduce trouble, conflict and prime incidents, legal law, provincial law and contractual responsibility (Klemm, 2001).

Health and safety

Health and safety are the prime responsibility for the tourist organization. For any tour operator, regal and first duty is a higher standard of health and safety for customer. The tour operates have to investigate or visit properly to the accommodation before they sell any package to the customer. In the UK, one of the leading tour operators is Thomson which gives emphasis to one safety first. UK Thomson has a best quality of hygiene practice for the sickness in the holiday for example for aged people and pregnant women they do exceptional care. Apart from that they suggest some idea to the customer which they need to do then they might spend their holiday better for example to take proper and well balanced food to make stomach perfect for the tourism. Keeping in mind the aspect of quality, the company tends to keep away its customers or tourist from food and buffets that have been not here for long hours. For the purpose of safety, the company does not hesitate to providing armed security to the tourist in some remote areas of the world (Gartner, 1994).

Excursion safety

Thomas has to care about every tour, and the company has to ensure that where ever the tourist is being taken, is safe and peaceful place. A thorough evaluation is done before going to visit any place. Any sort of threat or risk associated with that place is being catered in an efficient way by the organization (Lumsdon, 1999).

Personal safety
