Introduction

In a Chinese novel, Cesar Aira, someone says that education should start and finish at the University in the Kindergarten. The idea is quite and is based on cross liabilities for what is called basic training or background and then enjoy the possibilities through the which relate the knowledge and desire. It is a journey from the universal to the particular. The theme of this paper is to analyze different aspect as in modern age many people are reading more and more but are learning less. Therefore, the objective of this paper will analyze three different articles from “Room for Debate” from The New York Times.

Discussion

The first article “A larger pool of data but few dives in” by Nicholas Carr is about the impact of web based readings and articles on the people of America. Basically, the article focuses on the core issues that before the concept of web based articles and readings people remain much informed about the discussion and issues discussed in the readings (Carr, 2012). But after the popularity of internet large amount of articles and readings were published online which seems to be an important feature as much of the research, data and readings are available over web, people read more and more articles but could not retain it for long time as they passes by many information. In the articles there is analysis about the Pew Research Center study, which found that Americans knowledge regarding current affairs did not change significantly between 1989 and 2007, when the popularity of internet based readings, online information sites and sharing tools exploded. The other important aspect discussed in the article was about the belief that normal audience have that reading more will result in getting more information and will increase the general level of public awareness is false, because to be informed a person needs to read and understand the basic concept, which will have deep impact on the information received. Overall, the trends in American history showed that people are not much informed about the information that they are getting through internet as lots of data and information is presented on the web, which is hard to retain and result in abysmal situations (Carr, 2012).

The second article “Having information vs. being informed” by Denise Cheng is about the information load that people face while dealing with lots of information per day. There is a major difference between having the information and being informed as they both are different aspect of retaining information. In modern world, people are more directed towards the information which catches their attention and they are more interested in reading headlines rather than reading whole articles (Cheng, 2012). The author calls this era as era of information overload, where there is loads of information is circulated via internet, television and newspapers which creates the environment conducive to less learning and retaining.
