Introduction

Human Resources Manager, or most commonly called the HR Manager, is the person who head the department of human resources in an organization. Generally an HR manager is responsible for planning the employees' career, organizing training aiming at expand their skills, as well as recruitment of personnel. HR Manager has a very wide range of duties which includes organization of the recruitment process, verifying and supervising the organizational polices and the overall structure is conducive for development for the present employees, defining responsibilities for specific positions, as well as conducting a number of activities aimed at streamlining the process of internal communication within the company. Manager assess the success of employees, negotiate the terms of their employment, or promotion, and all this done in collaboration with team of human resources specialists working under the management of the manager (Sharma, 2009, pp. 143-144).

The HR manager also plays an important role of ensuring that the policies regarding developing people for performance in an organization are put in to practice in an appropriate and desired manner. The general functions associated with the position of HR manager is complex in nature, ranging from recruitment of new employees and training to developing and implementing policies regarding the improvement of employee performance and productivity. Every organization needs a strategic model that drives development, competitiveness, and performance improvement amongst employees and ensures the sustainable and continuous growth of not only the individual employee but also the organization (Marchington, et al., 2002, p. 259). For an HR manager, this is one of the great challenges to know how to manage people without neglecting the strategic objective and goals of the organization. The profile of the HR manager must be fully geared towards strategic objectives of the organization with a visionary approach towards future growth and performance improvement (Blanchard and Thacker, 2008, pp. 4-5).

The valuable employee development is dependent on the HR manager's ability to match the growth opportunities of employees with the needs and requirements of an organization. It is necessary for an HR manager to make the employees feel as owner to manage the process of their performance. This can be accomplished by the regular discussions with employees about their performance and growth opportunities in the organization. The role of HR manager includes the following considerations;

Facilitate the employees to match their abilities, skills, interests, and values with the job opportunities.

Carry out the regular discussions on the developmental needs of employees.

Involve the employees to draft individual's developmental plan.
