Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to make an analysis on the role of nurses. The paper makes analysis on the key role of the nursing profession, and the ways through which the professional nursing organizations support this role in the classrooms. Profession of nursing is a noble profession, in order to become a registered nurse, hard work and dedication is required in this profession. Nurses have to face so many challenges in this profession. In order to meet with such challenges, nurses perform different roles (Avolio, 2007). The main role of nurses chosen in this paper is the role of leadership. It is a talent which is used to bring positive influences on the subordinates so that they can achieve a successful end. Leadership is an art that can be helpful for influencing people to do the work without imposing and authority and using any power. Leadership is an ability which each and every individual posses in order to provide guidance to the peer group.

The process of leadership is used to bring influences on people in order to achieve the required goals. It is necessary for the leader that he/she should posses the integrity, charisma, sympathy, persuasiveness, courage, sensitivity, fairness, intelligence, innovation t be a good leader. It is also necessary for a good leader to possess the qualities to properly lead the number of people in a group. Leader's responsibility is to motivate and stimulate the subordinates so that they can easily pereform their jobs in an effective manner, and achieve their desired goals (Allen, 2004, p. 127).

Nurse's Role as a Leader

Nurses perform different roles and functions. One of the major roles of nurses is the leadership role. Nurses have to perform the leadership role. The process of leadership is helpful for the people in order to achieve their desired goals. Therefore, the importance of leadership in the helath care field is utmost. It is necessary that the nurses should have charisma and intelligence to be a successful leader. The nurses should also have the qualities of sensitivity, sympathy, persuasiveness, and fairness in order to effectively perform as a good leader. These qualities can be very helpful for the nurses in order to attract their subordinates, and motivate them to perform effectively and fulfill their tasks.
