Role of Private and Public Sector in Government

Introduction

Governments are composed of a number of complicated as well as complex components, which include a variety of agents as well as factors that are continuously placing direct or indirect impact on the running of government. Among such agents, the public and the private sector play the most essential role and the relationship and coordination between the two ensures either success or failure of the organization. The topic holds immense importance as the success or failure or any government is based on the proper assigning of roles in the government and the private sector, the role played by each of these sectors is of extreme importance for every government, in all the parts of the world.

The purpose of this paper is to seek the role of public and private sector in the government and the role played by it in the development and proper working of the organization. I would argue that better relations between the two sectors, combined with continuous coordination is necessary for maintaining proper running of the government and if the two fail to go together, the government end up being a failure. I believe that the public and the private sector play vital and pivotal role in any government, and several studies show that the governments that fail to assign proper roles to the private and public sector and failed to manage them properly generally result in being failures. As the governments have only one change of proving their worth and in this era of extreme competition, there is no chance of them following the trial and error method, the governments must play special attention to the matter at hand ensure that both the private and the public sector are playing their part properly and in the right manner.

Literature Review

Several researches have been conducted to analyze and access the role of private and public sector in the government, and researchers have also tried to form a link between the working of public and private sector and the interests of people. Studies show that overall interests of public and private sector are somehow linked to one another, and it is not possible to separate them completely (Mahoney, McGahan and Pitelis, 2009, Pp: 1034). This is also evident from the fact that the overall interest of individuals of any area is the same, no matter which walk of life they belong to. Although personal and specific interests might differ, but the overall interests are the same and equal amount of attention is paid to each interest. Thus, it is important for the public as well as private sector to work together in harmony with each other, and this cooperation and coordination also proves helpful for the government, which also aims at bringing about betterment in the lifestyle and the quality of life of individuals (Becker and Patterson, 2005, Pp: 125).
