About Cindy Sherman
Cindy Sherman was born on 19th January 1954 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey and grew up the youngest of six children in Huntington Beach on Long Iceland. She was a child who always watched TV and was indulged in makeup and costumes. In an interview with the art critic Wilfried Dickhoff, she said that, she always liked to disguise and slip into other roles instead of the usual stuff, like when little girls often play the role of mother, she was more interested in the ugly, evil and frightening characters from the fairy tales they loved. This personal preference accompanied them in the years 1972-1976, where she at State University College at Buffalo, New York, studied art. After her completion of, Bachelor of Arts, she moved in 1977 to New York City. She still lives there today with her husband, the French video artist Michel Auder, and her parrot Frieda in a loft in Soho. There arose in her with all imaginable props, costumes and masks equipped studio-1975 her photographic work cycles. The work of Cindy Sherman's been in many exhibitions in the U.S., in almost all major cities of Western Europe.
