Introduction

Self-care is the practice of activities that individuals make for themselves to maintain life, health and wellness. In continuation to the process, the nursing theory of Self-Care aims to enable individuals, families, and communities to take initiatives and assume responsibilities of effectively engaging in developing their own path toward improved quality of life, health, and well-being (Acker, 1999, pp. 112). The theory of Self-Care, have practical nursing. It has been applied for clinical nursing in a variety of circumstances. Moreover, it has been used as the basis of the curricula of nursing schools and information system. The process of self-care can be examined through assessments tools, which have taken under five variables for the assessment criteria. The mediums are Physical, Spiritual, Psychological, Emotional, and Workplace self care, which are specifically attached to an individual's life.

Discussion

The prime focus of the paper is to discuss the assessment criteria involved in the self-care strategies and to analyze the score obtained in this regard. The strategies of self-care involve five different dimensions that play key role in self-care. These dimensions have further elaborations in which an individual engages him/herself. The dimensions are analyzed as follows, according to the scores obtained:

Physical Self Care

The moderations in the physical self care that have been achieved are 34 points, where as the highest possible score that is achievable through scoring the best result could be 51, according to the given criteria in the score list. The score achieved under the physical self care is moderate and sticks around the average area. The activities in the domain of physical self-care are related to physical personal health. The eating habits have scored to full extent. However, the physical exercise lacks score but the medical activities are moderate.

Spiritual Self Care

The spiritual self-care is a mixture and combination of the self-care with through the habitats of spiritual activities. The total score achieved in this regard is 39; where as the highest possible score that could be achieved is 54. The spiritual self-care is associated with the management of stress releases through contributions from spiritual activities. The score that is achieved combines a healthy proportion of spiritual activities that enhances the soul through stress releases. However, better scores can be achieved through working on singing practices, nurture, reading, and through inspirations (Brenner, 2010).

Psychological Self Care

The strategies of self-care include psychological self-care as one of the key elements. The score achieved in this prospect is 22, which seems to be below the rank as the highest possible score that is achievable is 42. The analysis suggest that the there is a lot of ignorance in considering counseling activities and taking extra responsibilities. The psychological self-care lacks focus and needs a lot of work for the purpose of achieving a better health status.

Emotional Self Care
