Community Self-Management Program to Promote Health and Reduce Blood Pressure level in Patients with Hypertension

Part 1

Brief introduction of the area of research

Hypertension is the term that can be defined as an anomaly in the blood pressure of an individual. Usually the term hypertension is used to represent the patients that acknowledge high level of blood pressure which is hazardous for their health. Blood pressure is a kind of force or energy that implies against walls of arteries. Due to the pumping of heart, blood in supplied from heart to other organs of the body; this mechanism is facilitated by blood pressure.

There are different causes responsible for the occurrence of high blood pressure in patients such as the tendency of salt and water consumed, working condition of the kidneys, appropriate mechanism of the nervous system, operations of the blood vessels and hormones function. The purpose of this paper is to enlighten and explore the approaches through which blood pressure level is reduced in patients with hypertension.

Enhancement in blood pressure is common problem encountered around the globe. Due to inappropriate diet and minimal physical activity the occurrence of hypertension has augmented. People are involved in their busy work schedule and do not have time to manage their diet and physical activity. Hence, this study is carried out to accumulated data from diverse sources in order to highlight factors influencing hypertension and suggest approaches through which hypertension can be managed.

Research Questions

The research questions in this study are aimed to find the answers through which the research topic can be explored. There are diverse factors influencing the occurrence of hypertension in patients. Therefore, the research questions of this study are entitled to find the answers through which the impact of these factors can be analysed as appropriate approaches can be proposed through which patients can cope with hypertension via self management. The research questions of this study are enlightened below.

What are the demographic characteristics of hypertension patients?

What are the characteristics of patients in relation to their blood pressure level, knowledge of hypertension, health behaviour; medication use and management method in pre-intervention time?

Aims of the Study

There are certain aims of every research study on the basis of which entire framework of the study is designed. The aims of the study serve as the guidelines for the research that facilitate the selection of optimal data collection, analysis and research framework approaches from the available alternatives. The aims of this research study are prescribed below.

Describe the characteristics of hypertension patients.

Describe characteristics of outcome variables: SBP, DBP, knowledge of hypertension, health behaviour, mediation use and management.

Objectives of the Study

Every research study is conducted to accomplish certain objectives. These objectives represent the research questions and hypothesis of the study. Hence, the accomplishment of research objectives is aligned with the study variables. The objectives of the research facilitate the research to explore the answers to the research questions via validating the ...
