Introduction

Self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) is rendered by many experts as the significant element which tends to relate to Diabetes Mellitus (DM). It is suggested for the individual who otherwise fails to achieve an appropriate level of glycemic control in order to prevent hypoglycemia. Diabetes mellitus type 2 is a chronic disease that is characterized by impaired insulin mechanisms of interaction with cells, the receptor cells, lose sensitivity to it, or a violation of the pancreas, which leads to the fact that iron ceases to synthesize insulin in the appropriate quantity (Adrian & Robert, 2011). Type II diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. Approximately 85-90% of diabetics have the second type. Unlike the first diabetes, the second type is characterized by slow progression of the disease. Sometimes it may take several months or even years before diagnosis. Thus, in the course of the paper we intend to formulate a Teaching project as highlighted in the pretext of the paper.

Why It is Important?

Controlling blood sugar is a key to prevent serious problems which tends to arise due to GS levels as they tend to rise abnormally (hyperglycemia) or falls too low (hypoglycemia), i. e, inadequate blood glucose. Both conditions can be serious if not treated immediately. The long-term problems related to uncontrolled diabetes complications are called GS and may include heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, retinopathy, blindness and nerve damage. Since it is a teaching project therefore, it is necessary that the idea is deciphered in a non-technical manner. More importantly the idea behind Self-monitoring of blood glucose is to decipher and store information regarding the fluctuating levels of glucose in the blood, so that an individual can be suggested ways to maintain a stable level.

Modus Operandi

The person with DM can be tested with a small GS mediator even in a premise of a household. In order to detect DM a test strip needs to be placed and tends to be impregnated with a chemical, upon which a drop of blood is placed. It is usually obtained from a finger prick or forearm.
