Introduction

Everyone in this world requires and demand safety. The safety of a person is not only confined to the concerns of physical harms, but also regarding the safety of one's respect and dignity. However, unfortunately, the world is full of individuals with evil souls and intentions; who pay little reverence to self esteem and dignity of any person, and do not think twice before denting them forever.

Sexual Harassment

In literal sense, the term sexual harassment denotes the undesirable and uninvited infliction of the sexual intention or act, by a superior person, to a person who is either junior to him/her, or is less powerful or authoritative.

Sexual Harassment at Work

By definition, the term sexual harassment at work denotes the infliction of the evil sexual intentions by a supervising authority, primarily Boss, or even a peer, towards a subordinate or any other employee at the organization (Jessica, p. 159).

Case Studies

Amy at Christmas Party

According to a case study, a sexual harassment case took place in the staff Christmas party of a relatively known firm. This party was arranged for the staff in a hotel. An employee, named Amy had recently joined the firm, and was really excited for this party. She brought her sister along to the hotel. However, the event did not turn out to be as exciting for her as she had anticipated it to be. As soon as she entered the hotel with her sister, a bunch of co-workers whistled at her and her sister, along with numerous insulting sexual remarks. However, opting to ignore them, Amy and her sister sat at a table for drinks; this was when a co-worker named Evan walked up to their table and gradually started lifting his shirt up, along with a dirty dance. Later on, Evan also made a move on her, by pulling down her shirt, which exposed her breast. When she tried to defend herself by hitting Evan, with the pool stick, another employee, named Mark approached and tried to grab the stick from her.

However, the very next day she lodged a compliant to her manager, for such a reprehensible behaviour by her co workers at the party. Upon being investigated, the management transferred Evan to a different location, and mark was penalized too. However, Amy sensed a change of attitude of her colleagues towards her, and she was even refused ...
