Should marijuana be a medical option?

Introduction

Marijuana is a drug, an addictive drug which has been used all over the world for a long time, this has been the complete definition of Marijuana for a long time. It is a sub stance which is created from nature, specifically the Cannabis plant. Evidence is found that supports the fact that Marijuana had been cultivated in China as early as 4000 BC. There were initially five major uses of Cannabis. It was used for the production of hemp, oil which was extracted from its seeds, as a medicine, aside from oil the seeds were also used as sources of food and lastly the narcotic properties. It is even present in Zend-Avesta, an Indian book which gives an estimate of its date to be approx. around 600 BC. These evidences show how long has marijuana has been in use. Over the years different people have used Marijuana for different reasons, like it has been used as desensitizers where normal medicines or pain killing drugs are not available, it has been used by the Shamans or Witch doctors for going into 'religious trances', and for a much more vulgar and un-noble purpose, for getting high or stonedSince the ratio of drug addicts have increased and indeed an increasing trend is being observed the Governments all over the world have classified Marijuana as an illegal substance and there is a ban on even the possession of it. The possession or the sale of the drug can lead from a penalty to seven year sentence with extra financial penalties. In the modern times though, Marijuana is lobbied by a large amount of doctors and public for use because it's medical properties. This has turned into a huge debate and the people are divided into two factions, the Pro-Marijuana faction and the Against-Marijuana faction. In the United States, some State Governments have already legalized the drug, for example the Governments of Maine, California and Arizona have legitimized the use of Marijuana for medical reasons for patients who are in actual need of it.

I believe that Marijuana should be recognized as medical option because of the many advantages and benefits it can provide to mankind, not only medically but economically as well.
