Introduction

Marijuana is an addictive drug which is consumed worldwide for a long time for its addictive properties. Harvested from the Cannabis plant Marijuana has euphoric inducing properties in humans. Marijuana cultivation has been found during 4000 BC in China. Cannabis is majorly used for five specific reasons. Hemp is created from Cannabis, oil is extracted from its seeds, which is used as a medicine, as well as a source of nutrition and the narcotic properties of the plant. The presence of Cannabis is also found in the Zend-Avesta, the Indian book which dates back to roughly 600 BC. In the light of this evidence, it becomes evident how long marijuana has been in consumption. Marijuana use has been justified for a variety of reasons in the course of history some use it for desensitizing when medicines or pain killers don't do the job, a way to commune with the Spirits by Witch doctors or Wiccas, by inducing 'religious trances', lastly for getting hammered or stoned. Drug addicts have been on a steady rise and the increasing trend can be clearly observed. In order to try and hamper this steadily increasing trend; Governments worldwide have categorized Marijuana in the illegal substance category and have placed bans even on its possession. The breach of this regulation can lead to anywhere between a penalty to seven year sentence.

However nowadays, Marijuana is being opted by many members of the medical and the public community for its virtues in medicinal healing. Yet its being vehemently opposed by another faction as well, mainly those people who think the society should be kept clear of drugs. This difference of opinion has morphed into a huge agreement and the people are segmented into two sides, the Pro-Marijuanas and the Against-Marijuanas.

In United States of America, a few State Governments have already gone ahead and legalized the drug for medicinal purposes like the Governments of Arizona, California and Maine. They have legalized and allowed Marijuana consumption, but for medical reasons only, and for patients actually needing it.
