Introduction

Sleep disorders are very common and these conditions can be overcome . It is very significant to understand what factor affects sleep and the importance.

Our bodies are inactive but brains stay very active while we sleep. Daily functioning of physical and mental health is affected by lack of sleep in many ways.

There are 5 phases of sleep

1.Tiredness

2.Light sleep

3.Deep sleep

4.Slow-wave Deep Sleep

5.Rapid eye movement (REM)

45% of our sleep of us id spended in phase 2, approximately 15% in Rapid eye movemeny phase and the resting 35% in other phases. Nearly half of infant's sleep time is spended in Rapid eye movement. The people who wakened during deep sleep don't adjust immediately and often feel disoriented and groggy for several minutes after they wake up. Some children experience night terrors, sleepwalking during deep sleep and bed wetting. Our breathing becomes more shallow, irregular and rapid at 5th phase (REM SLEEP). Hours of sleep each person needs depends on many factors, including age. Infants usually require about 16 hours, and adolescents need about 9 hours. For most adults, 7-8 hours of sleep seems to be the best amount of sleep, although some people may only need 5 hours or up to 10 hours each day. (Jones, 2005, 186)

Lack of sleep resulting in "sleep debt", which is very much like a bank overdraft. Eventually, your body will be required to repay the debt! Many studies show that sleep deprivation is dangerous. People who sleep with the driving simulator or a hand-eye coordination or perfunctory test tasks than people who are intoxicated. Sleep deprivation also makes more bad influence of alcohol. Tired of people who drink more than others will become one can damage a rest.(Johnson, 2008, 713)

Research has been conducted on finding out an answer to the question that why people need sleep, many studies have shown that for a human survival slep is very necessary.

Deep sleep in children and young adults is related to an important growth hormone. Many body cells regenerate during deep sleep. They grow and repair damage caused by ultraviolet rays and stress. That is why beauty sleep is called truly as beauty sleep(Jackson, 2003, 217)
