Introduction

The language, customs, and the traditions of the people of Panama are dominated by the Caribbean Spanish culture. The population of the country is divided into mixed Spanish, West Indian and Chinese. However, Spanish is the most dominant and official language of Panama. The second most spoken language in Panama is English. There are many popular and folk traditions of the people of Panama. The people of Panama like their traditions and also celebrate their folk songs. Jazz, rock and salsa are the famous music of Panama. Ruben Blades is considered as the best performer of the country in music. The indigenous people are also known for their expertise in the handicrafts and the Kunta textiles are famous in the country. The political conditions of the Panama have not been very stable. It was initially and oligarchy and afterwards it was ruled by the dictators. Until 1968 Panama was a democracy dominated by the Oligarchy. However, in 1968 the military government was established and brigadier General Omer became the sole ruler of Panama. The democracy finally returned to the country in 1989 and continues to flourish in the country.
