As being a CEO for the Northern State Bank of Virginia, I have to keep a check and balance about all the companies' rules and regulations. I have to make sure all the employees working follow the rules and regulations as well as the code of conduct and ethics as per the company policies. I believe that I currently need to introduce and implement some new code of ethics for the bank as per its requirements because it is obligatory for the banks to have the highest standard of ethical codes in order to prosper (FDIC, 2005).

Bank of America

The code of conduct policies of the Bank of America is of the highest standards. They have designed the code of conduct in such a ways that it key points in safeguarding their company's interests as well as the interests of their customers (Bank of America, 2009).

American Express

The American Express bank has set the code of conduct policies in a very precise manner. They have covered the grounds from keeping the bank environment safe and healthy to money laundering. They have made sections of each topic; different questions are stated on the top of each section and below are answers in details (American Express, 2007).

TD Bank

The TD Bank has set certain guidelines in the ethics policy. All the people are supposed to inform the Human Resource Department if they have any prior criminal record. Alcohol or substance abuse is strictly not allowed in the premises of the bank as well as no employee is to report to the office in such a state. The TD bank does not allow their employees to engage in social media of any kind during working hours (TD, 2013).

By reading the code of ethics guidelines of these banks I have made a code of conduct policy given below.

Code of Conduct or Ethics Policy

A message will be communicated to all the employees of the bank that the integrity and ethical principles of the uppermost standards should be maintained. There is to be no conflict of interest in the companies' codes and ethics guidelines. I will ensure that all policies are conveyed and understood throughout the bank.

Confidential Information

Avoid any conflict (or even a perception of a potential conflict) between his or her personal, social, financial or political interest and the advancement of the Bank's business interests or interest of its customers.

Shall always act on behalf of the bank in ways that enhance the Bank's reputation, integrity and its brand name.

According to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) of 1999 all the sensitive information of the customers will be safe guarded. Confidential information concerning a customer or a supplier must never be disclosed to a third part except pursuant to applicable laws or regulation, or a court order or other legal process, or after the informed consent of the customer or supplier in writing.
