Social Work Adults & Children

Introduction

Social work discipline came forth with the dual purpose philosophy which was nurtured by combating social welfare views in earlier centuries. The duality of these views was needed for particular attention towards the social reform of the environment and to pay services to individualized person in need. The emergence of social welfare organizations and the early development of the profession are interlinked phenomenon of this duality. This concept was never completely rooted or explored into the philosophical domain and practice orientation. Rather, the initial partition of independent bodies that lies in this concept gave a dichotomy among those that supported social reform methods and those who supported individual change. The modern understanding of the role of social worker is contrasting to reductionist (theory of analysing complex things) and linear (involving a single dimension). One of the primary concerns of the current social work policies and academia is the lack of social research and logical application of the theories. In general, majority of the social work policies as well as the education system does not cater the needs of the current demands. In this paper, we will discuss the role of social work in assessing and protecting people in need and to what extent the social work role changed over the last 40 years and contributed to some of those changes.

For instance, preventing delays and facilitating for ensuring the condition of suitable and ample support for promoting carers, adoptive parents and kin carers (Wade et al., 2010). Good evaluation also has a position to participate in early intervention strategies which contribute to the effective targeting of interventions.

However, assessment is not the only component that impacts over the outcomes. Numerous other factors are involved such as parental behaviour, genetic vulnerabilities and motivation which include the right types of interventions for addressing the required issues, needs and difficulties. Moreover, it is also apparent that assessments can go wrong on some extent. The cause for such wrong assessment cannot be simplified from the judgment of individual practitioners, but it must be realized at the ...
