Description of athlete and event

I have been playing tennis since I was 4 years old and played my first tournament on a junior boy's level at the age of 9. I have an athletic build that is ideally suited for this sport. My height is 6 feet, 2 inches and I weigh 179 lbs. At 19 years of age, I am at the peak of my fitness and game. The tournament that I am preparing for is the Men's singles which will be taking place in a year's time for which I am devising my schedule based on all the variables that are relevant.

Rules and regulations of the Tournament

Matches will be played on synthetic surfaces in the evenings under floodlights. The players must be dressed in white kits and playing gear. The matches will be based on best of 3 sets criteria with no Tie Break in the final set. The service toss will be done by coin flip and the loser of the toss is to select the side from where he wishes to receive. Sides will be changed after the first game and then subsequently after every 2 games. In case of inclement weather, matches will be delayed but not postponed. 4 minute breaks between sets are to be observed. The number of officiating staff the Chair Umpire and Linesmen will be 4 in number. New balls (3) shall be used for each match and it shall be optional with the tournament chairperson if new balls will be used for the third set through the quarterfinals after which new balls for the third set will be provided. Balls will remain the property of the tournament director upon the completion of the match. A retirement will be deemed to have occurred when, during the course of the match, a player is unable to continue play due to injury or loss of condition. If a player retires in his/her "last match", that tournament shall be deemed completed since the player takes the loss.

Body Composition

With an athletic build, a height of 6 feet and 2 inches and weighing 179 pounds, my Body Mass Index is 23 which is regarded as normal. I fall in the mesomorph category with naturally more muscle and less fat making me an ideal for lawn tennis.

Energy Systems

The primary fuel source for lawn tennis is the immediate or high energy phosphate system. This is due to the frequent short sprints while retrieving the shots, especially drop shots. Anaerobic glycol sis is also instrumental due to the fact that muscle tissue is regularly torn and regenerated. The lactic Acid system is the primary phenomena in this regard. The long term energy requires the active and efficient utilization of oxygen. This involves deep breathing and undisturbed inhalation and exhalation in order to keep the supply of oxygen constant. The short sprints in tennis especially in the serve and volley game require a healthy flow of oxygen in the ...
