Introduction

This study will explore the perception of Omani nurses towards attendance of staff development activities. The findings of this study will bring out different views regarding the perceptions of staff regarding staff development programs. This could as a baseline date for better attendance in the health care institutions. The findings also could form a curriculum for staff development training and continuing education programs for nurses in Oman. It is also seen to provide opportunity for education, emotional support and social interaction. Education can be divided into two areas: staff development and patient education. Staff development programs in nursing care are ongoing programs of education provided by the employing authority to assist individual nurses in training new knowledge, skill and attitude to go professional (Pope, 2006, pp. 48-78).

Problem Statement

Staff development activities are very important and every health care worker should have the interest to join and participate in these activities in order to provide good quality of care and to maintain an ideal standard of nursing practice. There are several factors that have an effective influence on the approaches through which students integrate within implemented practice setting. These factors are not bound to the internal factors that directly influence the practice setting; nonetheless, the external factors and priorities of students also influence their participation and integration in the program. It is crucially significant that these concerns must be addressed as soon as they begin to influence the practice setting in order to assure efficacy of the practice setting. Nonetheless, there are distinct approaches suggested to control the factors that influence student integration; but, the appropriate approach must be selected on the basis of the scenario.
