Nokia serves as the leading brand in the mobile industry. The Nokia continues to improve its corporate strategy in order to be a leading brand among its competitors. They aim to maintain sustainability for the environment and people through their effective corporate strategy.

In the beginning, the corporate strategy of Nokia focused on the consumer needs but now they have changed their corporate strategy towards mobile phone industry.

Nokia is operating in teh telecommunication industry with an aim of providing its customers with the innovative products and services. They are continuously moving towards innovation for satisfying customer needs and demands.

They have formulated their business strategy in such a way that it can attract more customers. The key elements of their business strategy include building a new ecosystem with Microsoft, focus on innovation in smart phones industry, developing new markets for growth. They have taken some initiatives in their business strategy for beating the competitors. These initiatives include

They are gaining leadership in the smart phone industry.

They are making their strengths and capabilities more strong in feature mobiles so that they can provide people with the internet and applications.

They have make changes in their operational, cost leadership and differentiation strategies.

Nokia has skilled personnel for its operations. They have competent and intelligent employees which work hard for its products. Every year, Nokia allocate a huge portion of its budget for making products and providing services to its customers.

The great internal strength of Nokia is its brand, and they have a competitive advantage in it. During the 90's Nokia efforts were done by Nokia to build their corporate image and brand. Nokia aimed to promote their products with an attractive brand name attached to it. They also attract investment to the firm. In 1980, Nokia produced television under 7 brand and mobile phones with two brands and none of them was under the brand name of Nokia. In the early 90's they gave strong impetus to the brand and coined the slogan high technology with human touch (Agar, 2013). They do not have very strong promotion campaigns.

In 1992, the board of directors gave new impetus to the brand slogan and the term “Connecting People”, which remains to this day. In 2005, with the perception that the brand was closely linked to the product, it performed brand refocus to give it an image which is closer to the user (technology very human), with a touch warmer and a focus on emotional attributes. Nokia was termed as the fifth brand in the world, and is the only manufacturer of mobile phones on the top 10 brands listed compiled by Inter Brand and Business week in 2007. It was also recognized in Asia in 2006 as the trusted brand among 1,000 brands in 15 countries of products and services. The company is the Main phone brand in most countries in which it operates.
