Introduction

Over the last decade, one of the diseases that have rapidly increased in all parts of the world is diabetics. Every country has conducted ways to control the diabetics in every age group but still different plans need to be initiated to further reduce the risk attached with the diabetic patients. According to a report generated by British Diabetic Association (BDA) that informs different initiatives taken by the UK government to control diabetes. There are several evidences regarding the diabetes care that was focused on community and working related individuals. The report highlighted that there has been an advancement and progress related to the quality of diabetic care provided within the residential settings in the community. Discussion

According to Mackinnon (2003) after the publication of the National Service Framework for Diabetes based in UK, there has been a strategy set out to implement the programme and achieve the desired results. The programme was based on modernization and reorganization so that desired results may be accomplished with the provision of diabetes healthcare facilities. It is the responsibility of the local service providers to give assurance that they have all the important resources available to implement the delivery strategy designed by the National Service Framework for Diabetes. The framework has also suggested that diabetic patients should be divided into strategic groups. These groups will in turn be responsible for managing a local diabetic network and will have the responsibility to design the diabetic policies. The National Service Framework also ensured that workforce for implementing the diabetic strategy will have all the skills that are needed to provide best healthcare facilities to a diabetic patient. The NSF also developed the system of feedback so that they should remain informed about the suggestions and weaknesses in the diabetic strategies implemented by the healthcare organization.

Key Strategies

The key strategies initiated by National Service Framework included the following: firstly setting up local diabetic networks in the community settings by identifying leaders in the neighbourhoods or in the local community settings. Then these leaders will be appointed to develop a diabetic network of managers, people who are clinical champions and people who are master in getting the views of the diabetic patients. Secondly it is aimed to review the local baseline assessment, creating and circulating the arrangements for implementation with an aim to reach at the standard level. Thirdly in order to identify the variances the NSF will take part in comparing the local and national audits so that discrepancies in the strategy implemented must be dealt.
