Travel Newton & Oldingham Survey

A survey of 250 passengers who travel by the Travel Newtown & Oldingham train services company has been conducted. Here is the analysis of the survey.

Travel Time

Any transport service must be punctual and fast. The respondents of survey were asked that how long it takes them to reach the destination. The time duration required to reach the departure station varies from 2 minutes to 35 minutes. On average a passenger reaches the departure station after 17 minutes (Table 1). This average time required to reach the departure station is not the same as the travel time recorded in last survey.

In last survey on average a passenger said that it takes 20 minutes to reach the departure station. While the current survey proved that the average travel time of the Travel Newtown & Oldingham train services has reduced. Also there is no difference in this average time of travel either the passenger is a male or a female (Table 2).

Frequency of Traveling in Travel Newton & Oldingham Train Services

A satisfied passenger always selects the same service for next travel. In the survey there were some people who travel by Travel Newtown & Oldingham train services once in a month and some travel 24 times in a month. On average a passenger travels 12 times a month. The number of travels in a month varies largely among passengers as the purpose of travel varies (Table 3).

In last survey the average number of travels made by a passenger per month came 14. Current survey showed that on average a passenger travels 12 times a month. This shows the reduction in the frequency with which people avail the services of the company. This frequency does not depend on the gender of the passenger (Table 4).

Ticket Type

A travelling service uses classified tickets so that the passenger can avail maximum facilities accordingly. Travel Newtown & Oldingham company offers seven types of tickets. 2.4% passengers travel on single ticket. 30% passengers use a cheap day return ticket. 6% passengers travel on standard return ticket. The ticket that is used the most is the Season ticket, 38%. 12% passengers use a freedom pass while 6% passengers travel on student pass. Surprisingly none of the passengers in the survey travels on a staff pass. The reason for this is the timing in which the survey was conducted that is the standard working days (Table 5 & Table 6).

Reason to Travel

It is obvious that passengers have varying reason to travel also the reason to travel might be related with the type of ticket they travel on. Here we first see the pattern of reasons for which the passengers travel by this train service and then we will analyze the association between pattern of type of ticket and pattern of reason to ...
