Abstract

Teamwork is of immense importance in today's global business world, as it motivates the employees and encourages them to participate in decision making and other important activities. Those organizations that have adopted the very concept of team work have experienced success and have seen their goals and targets been met on a timely and an orderly manner. Big and successful corporations, like the Wal-Mart, encourage the employees to work as teams and move together as one unit. Change is always present in the environment and the business and not-for- business organizations have to respond to change in a planned and orderly manner, so as to survive the existing competition in the business world.

Team Work (Part 1)

Having teamwork in a company is very crucial. Those companies that have induced the system of teamwork have reportedly seen an increase in performance related to problem solving, decision making and production, for that matter. Business and not-for- business organizations have seen that team work has stimulated growth prospects for them. Apart from all this, the group work techniques have resulted in an increase in employee input, motivation and morale, when correctly managed.

Through the delegation of responsibility to a certain team that has the required expertise in a particular field, the work of the top management is lessened to a greater extent. The top management is very confident that the team will be able to manage the work in a very professional and an organized manner. The performance of these teams is necessary in making the use of the teamwork an essential part of the organization's overall ethics. It is also essential for the employee to have specific attributes to be a very productive team member. The employee must be able to posses necessary set of skills and knowledge in order to be able to fulfill his part of the task effectively.

Team Work at Wal-Mart

In the words of the founder of Wal-Mart, if one needs to go at faster pace, he should go alone, and if he wants to go at a faster pace, he should not go alone, he should go with others. It is eminent from the words of the one, Sam Walton that Wal-Mart encourages the employees to work as teams and go together. The very logo of the company, 'go together' itself speaks the very importance of teamwork, (Krieg, 2012). ...
