Introduction

The uneven distribution of power, property and prestige is referred to as social stratification. This becomes the basis for splits in society and creates sects with disagreement. Usually power, property and prestige happens together, which means that a wealthy man is considered to be more powerful and of more value to society. But it is not necessary that this happens always, since a car mechanic can earn more than a college professor, but the job of professor is considered to be more prestigious than a car mechanic.

Discrimination

Similarly, today the use of technology also defines the various categories from which people belong to. It is also prejudiced by age, income group and education. For the people falling in the age 18 years to 30 years are considerably users of latest technology products than the people who are above the age of 30. Similarly, a well-educated sector of people is considerably in majority for the use of latest technology. Income groups also influence the buying behavior of users. Mostly wealthier people tend to buy expensive products, with a good brand name, top quality and long lasting. On the other hand, the low income groups tend to buy cheaper products which are of low quality and of comparably with less useful life.

Fight between Brands

Presently the fight between the Android phones and iPhone is also influenced by such stratification. IPhone users are considered to be more prestigious than the Android Phone users. However, this might not be true since people prefer Android phones more over iPhone, since they have an android market and variety of things to customize which does not have. But there has been significant increase in the usage of both category products.

The recent survey shows the buying behavior of the people in context to various demographic classifications. The survey compares the owners of Android phones and Apple. The main difference occurs in the classes of Income groups, where those earning under $75,000 annually, are majority amongst the users of Android phones, where as those earning above $75,000 annually are majority amongst the users of. Age is the factor that is indifferent regarding the products since the same trends follow in both categories of the product. This is mainly because of the fact that Apple products are widely known in the target market. The high income groups whether young or old know quite well about it and therefore age does not play a significant role here.

The table also shows a clear difference amongst the educated and uneducated customers of Android phones. Those people who are educated tend to buy iPhones in a larger percentage of about 64%.
