“The Blind Side”

The Blind Side is an American semi-biographical drama film. The film is written and directed by John Lee Hancock. It is based on the book of 2006 The Blind Side: Evolution of the game by Michael Lewis (McNary, 2009). The film is based on the extraordinary true story young, homeless African-American and NFL offensive tackle from Baltimore Ravens Michael Oher. The film was a mega blockbuster on box office. The film received an Academy Award nomination for best film. Along that the female actress of film Sandra Bullock won many awards for her outstanding performance (IMBD, 2009).

The film begins with Michael`s story that he struggle from start of his life being homeless and coming from a wrecked home with a mother who is drug addicted, and an absentee father. Because of his family conditions he was in control of Family Services, who took care of him till he grows up and able to lift his responsibilities of life. The luck factor counts for Michael when he enrolled in a private Christian school where Tuohy child goes (IMBD, 2009). The sociological factor of the film came about in the film, when a lady who helped and unknown person and groom up to a skilful player. Michael was homeless and led a ordinary life at the school, then suddenly the condition changes for him as he met Leigh Anne Tuohy, who lives next to the school. The nature of Leigh Anne was caring and supportive. She offered Michael to live at her home with her family. She favors Michael with great appreciation, which showed improvement in Michael exam, when he was not able to concentrate on his studies, never showed promising results. The efforts and appreciation by Leigh Anne were positive for him as his teachers communicate with positive feedbacks for him. The enthusiastic feedback came about for Michael was that he had the big defensive instincts (Jay, 2010). The efforts from Leigh Anne mounted to higher standards after that feedback by Michael`s teachers. She uses to explain Michael about playing in the field. Before that Michael did not know about the game and its rules, and was not able to understand his responsibility on play field. That was the moment when Michael starts to play well and prove to be the useful for his team. The determinations of Leigh Anne were much higher related to Michael progress that, at one stage of film Leigh Anne informs their friends at a party that “if they do not respect what she does, she will stop seeing them” (IMBD, 2009).
