The First Amendment

Introduction

The first amendment in the constitution of the United States of America calls for freedom of individuals from all kinds of intrusions from the government, in writing, speech as well as actions. The first amendment says: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances (Barron and Dienes, 2008, Pp: 556).
