Introduction

The old education of America was private and religious, and declared several aspects of schooling and literacy to the nation. There was also the public schooling culture in the American history which had been transformed shortly into the private schooling. The main focus of public schooling was to educate the immigrant's children who had different cultures and religions (Johnson, 2002). There was the mistrust of the parents about the public school as they considered that their children were not getting educated according to their requirements. Over 150 years, it was found that mistrust of parents related to public schools and, bad education system prevailed (Gaither, 2003). Today, this is not the case, because children are getting decent education to improve their learning and getting respective jobs. This is also the case in urban areas, that several students receive poor quality of education. Schools are trying to convince the parents about quality education, today. It is expected that, there will be proper education system in coming future. Let us highlight the historical events of American history which started from 1642 and, ended at 2001.

Permissive Era

Foundation of Boston Public Schools (1635)

This was the Latin Grammar school especially for boys from the age of 8 to 15. This school was based on European Schools in Puritan area. The aim of these schools was to develop boys for higher studies especially college level, and also making them aware of the service of God. These schools showed heavy relations with the religion and, boys studying in these schools were forced to learn religion at their first priority. The focus of these schools were to prepare the boys so that, they could read Bible.

Foundation of Harvard First College in United States (1636)

The aim of these schools was to prepare future ministers and, aimed students to learn and read Greek and Latin for admittance. The purpose of these schools was aimed to provide high quality education at that time in order to build the nation of United States stronger in the education background (Barger, 2004). The university which was started from nine students and only one teacher is now accommodating more than 20,000 candidates including, graduates, undergraduates and professional students.

First Education Law (1642)

This law is of great significance in American history and, enacted by Massachusetts General Court which, required parents and guardians to improve their children's skills and abilities and, made them understand the principles of religion and, several laws of common wealth (Ornstein and Levine, 1984). The law was oriented towards a specific part of the society that was non-Puritan. It is because their children were not provided with proper education. The law was later strengthen and amended in 1648.

Private Academy (1749)
